This website serves as a personal presentation of a smart product which I invented and constructed for final trimming of edges on plastic foam boards frequently used
in signmaking production. Based on the success of the first prototype version I have designed a second version and incorporated new elements. Alloy is replaced by
stainless steel, user adjustment has been added and overall the product is improved for maximum quality and user comfort.
I no longer produce the first version, I have replaced it
with the second, which surpasses it in all respects.
The Edge Remover is a working tool which helps simply remove slightly raised to sharp edges which form during formatting of foam plastic boards. These sharp edges are not only unattractive and dangerous, but also prevent proper adhesion of vinyl upon application in these areas. By using this product you can remove the edge and also level the vinyl with the edge of the board in a single stroke. The result is an attractive edge, smoothly trimmed at an angle of less than 45°. The product works only with the edge, which will subsequently fall away, thus there is no danger of defects forming on the surface of the board.
Demonstration in the form of a short video of use of the Edge Remover in practice. See how it is very simple and intuitive, and can be handled by anybody.
Additional information about the Edge Remover and its functions.
The product is designed only for use on foam PVC boards used in signmaking.
The product is designed for use in a linear direction around the outer perimeter. It is not designed for rounded shapes and shaped cutouts.
The depth of the stroke can be adjusted with regard to the PVC board used. The optimum width of the line of the bevel is up to 1 mm. I stress that the tool is designed only for removing edges, for deeper bevelling it is necessary to use milling cutters for example. The tool enables alignment of the stroke of the knife within the range of approximately up to 1.5 mm, depending on the physical properties of the given foam PVC board.
The product is made of highly resistant material, stainless steel and hard plastic.
It forms an edge at an angle of approximately 45° against the board.
I selected the knife in the Edge Remover with the parameters below (see fig.). This is a blade frequently used in workshops, in addition to which the blade is segmented,
lasts longer and saves on operational costs. I personally recommend the type AB-50 of the Olfa brand, which is sharp and of quality production.
